Kids Voting :: Participating in the Democratic Process

star No matter how old you are, there are many great opportunities to get involved in democracy every day of the year!

  • Learn about the candidates and issues and participate in the Kids Voting Election Experience each November
  • Get involved in other Kids Voting programs for youth - check out the tabs at the top of this page
  • If you are old enough to register to vote...register AND vote.
  • Join a political organization
  • Help a campaign team
  • Attend a political party meeting
  • Get to know your government officials
  • Start a blog about political issues
  • Visit a government meeting - just to watch or sign up to speak about an issue that matters to you. You can also follow government proceedings on TV and online.
  • Email or write a letter to local leaders about an issue you have identified - and make sure to suggest a great solution
  • Become a regular reader of the Charlotte Observer and follow the news in other local media
  • Ask your teacher to plan time each week for student discussion about politics, government and current events
  • Talk about government and politics at home - encourage your parents to learn about what's going on, too
  • Contact Kids Voting to suggest more ideas. Just email info@kidsvoting.org with your idea, plus your name, grade and school and we will post it here!
