GenerationNation, home of the Kids Voting Mecklenburg election program, offers year-round opportunities to learn about and get involved
in the political process. This includes the traditional Kids Voting Election Experience
program, service-learning in polling places and student council elections.
Election Experience
Each general election in November, every Mecklenburg
County student has the opportunity to experience elections. Students in kindergarten
through high school may participate in a variety of ways, including:
Election results are counted and announced in the media and to schools after
Election Day - you can see how students voted!
Standards-based classroom activities are available to help engage students
in elections (and other areas of civic education) while supporting academic
achievement.
Students have
additional opportunities to learn about candidates and government at
election time and through the year.
